The TKD Kid

This is Duncan displaying his trophy after winning first place in his first tournament in Taekwondo. He was very proud that he won a trophy but he didn't really get the point of competition. He came up to us and said "Look! They gave me the biggest trophy! I'm so lucky!" It took a couple of attempts to get him to understand that they didn't give it to him, but rather he earned it by scoring the most points. It took half a day for the concept to sink in, but it finally did. This photo shows him wearing his white belt with yellow strips (9th Gup). He has since advanced to yellow belt (8th Gup).

Oh my God, I can't belive how fast Duncan is growing up. It seems like only yesterday you fed him a smoothie with some extra sugar in it, and he was running laps around your in-laws house for 2 hours. I can't wait to talk to him some day soon!

Yes, sir! He is growing beyond anything I had imagined. It is actually quite fun to converse with him now. He comes up with these off the wall things that make you stop cold and ask: "Where did you get that?!"

He was building with Legos yesterday and kept adding cool additions to a car he was making. He would inform me of each change and proudly show off his creation. At one point he approached me and asked what I thought. I pointed to a small block to the left of the driver's hand and asked of his latest addition: "What's this?"

"The cupholder." he said, like it was obvious.
